Indianapolis USA Sam Pierce Racing officials are pleased to announce that USAC Midget Car standout Kaylee Bryson will drive the #26 AP Driver Development / Sam Pierce Chevrolet.com / LSI Racing USAC Silver Crown Chevy at Toledo Speedway on August 6.
The event will mark Bryson’s first ever open wheel race on pavement. The pavement debut follows her USAC Silver Crown debut at Port Royal (PA) Speedway with Sam Pierce Racing where she laid down one extremely fast and impressive hot lap in practice before catastrophic engine failure ended the evening’s effort due to an oil pump failure.
Bryson tested on the pavement in June at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, were she wheeled Sam Pierce Racing’s Sprint Car and Midget Car mere tenths of a second off Tanner Swanson’s pace on his old tires. Swanson went on to win the next night’s Sprint Car race in dominating fashion at IRP and finished eighth in the SPR Midget Car.
Bryson will make her pavement Sprint Car debut on August 27 at the Sandi DeCaire Winged Sprint Car Classic at Citrus County (FL) Speedway. Kaylee will step into the #55 AP Driver Development / PSI Technologies / Wilo sponsored Chevy Winged Sprint Car fielded by Tommy Nichols Motorsports. SPR and TNM have a long-time affiliation and are confident that Bryson will carry the torch of impressive past performances at Citrus County by both Nichols and SPR primary driver Aaron Pierce.
Bryson has had an impressive season on the dirt and is currently seventh in USAC National Midget Car points, a mere 33 points behind fifth place Cannon McIntosh. She is “super pumped up” to begin her pavement career with Sam Pierce Racing equipment.
