Indianapolis, USA Sam Pierce Racing team principals announced this morning that Tanner Swanson will pilot the team’s #26 AP Driver Development / LSI Racing / SamPierceChevy.com Sprint Car in this year’s 75th Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW.
The Kingsburg, CA native and winner of last year’s 500 Sprint Car Tour Thursday Night Thunder Reunion at Lucas Oil IRP in the #26 SPR Sprint Car will be seeking redemption after dominating last year’s Little 500 for over 100 laps mid-race before being forced to retire due to overheating issues caused by early race contact with a back marker.
“Man, I just can’t thank Aaron and Sam (Pierce) enough for the opportunity to drive that 26 car again. We put ourselves in a good position to compete last year, and we are all laser-focused on doing so again this year,” said Swanson.
This year’s Little 500 effort by Team SPR will again be led by veteran Sprint Car champion and former Anderson Speedway track record holder and multi-time winner Aaron Pierce along with SPR crew chief Dave Newman and Chris Santucci, former WOO Sprint Car and USAC Silver Crown champion crew chief.
USAC standout and SPR primary driver Kaylee Bryson will be on hand to observe this year’s Memorial Day classic in a potential run up to competing in next year's ‘Little Five’. “With so much going on so far this year with Trans Am, the Chili Bowl and winged Spring Car stuff and a total commitment to our Silver Crown championship effort, I just wanna hang back and chill for this year’s 500, take it all in and focus on the Champ Car effort at IRP on Friday (May 26).” Bryson recently announced the execution of a multi-year driver services and agency contract with SPR and has been tapped to compete for the 2023 USAC Silver Crown championship along with select Trans Am series events.
This year’s 75th Lucas Oil Little 500 will be held on Saturday, May 27th, with practice on Wednesday, Pole Day qualifying on Thursday and Bump Day on Friday, May 26th.
