INDIANAPOLIS, August 14, 2023 – Sam Pierce Racing team principles are pleased to announce that St. Louis-based Welsch Heating & Cooling and Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems are teaming up with Kaylee Bryson for the USAC Silver Crown National Series event later this month at World Wide Technology Raceway. Bryson will pilot the #26 Welsch Heating & Cooling / AP Driver Development / Logical Systems Chevy-powered Beast during the “OUTFRONT 100” USAC Silver Crown race on August 27, prior to the “Bommarito Automotive Group 500” IndyCar event later in the day. Bryant is a part of Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
Welsch and Bryant have been supporting open wheel racing for decades.
Company President Butch Welsch has attended 76 consecutive Indianapolis 500s, which is “as close to a record as we have,” according to IMS President Doug Boles. Mr. Welsch has sat in the same seat since the Paddock grandstand was built at IMS in 1961.
Welsch Heating & Cooling has been a family-owned industry leading HVAC contactor in the St. Louis market for 128 years and will always answer the phone with live Customer Service staff 24 / 7 / 365.
Bryant, known for its exceptional reliability and energy efficiency through an extensive line of durable heating and cooling products, has been sponsoring open wheel drivers and teams since the 1958 Indy 500. Drivers include Janet Guthrie, the first woman to qualify for the 500 (1977), and IndyCar fan favorite Sarah Fisher in 2004, among others. Bryant is the longest-standing non-automotive sponsor at the Indianapolis 500.
Kaylee Bryson is a young, bright developing motorsports superstar with experience in multiple racing disciplines. The OUTFRONT 100 will be her second Champ Car appearance at WWTR. She was eighth quick in final practice in race trim last year before engine failure prevented her from starting the race. Bryson is currently third in USAC Silver Crown National Series driver point standings and leading the Rookie of the Year points chase.
Prior to the OUTFRONT 100 at WWTR on August 27, Bryson will return to the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield this Saturday August 19 for the 60th Bettenhausen 100 USAC Silver Crown National Series event. Bryson stunned the motorsports world at last year’s Bettenhausen 100 with her career-defining performance on the fabled dirt mile by qualifying on the front row and leading 72 laps in dominant fashion before a broken rocker arm relegated her to fifth place – her best finish yet in Silver Crown competition.
